Let Go + Let God = Handled!

Sometimes God simply wants to remind us that we don’t have to stress and fret over even the smallest of things. That’s exactly what He told me this morning. “Let me handle it!” Clearly I have a “let go and let God” problem that seems to reoccur…on a daily basis. But I am thankful that Holy Spirit reminds me through my time spent with Him every morning that He got this. I can CONSIDER IT HANDLED!
And you know why He has to remind me so much? Because of my sinful human tendency to forget! I literally have to die daily to the flesh y’all. I was telling my Mom the other day that it dawned on me that our spiritual journey is not a one and done kind of thing. Yes, once we accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior, we are saved. Period. That part is handled when we openly confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and we believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead. We receive salvation. We receive a new nature from God as a believer in Jesus Christ. But!! We must be fed and nurtured as we participate WITH Christ in our growth in grace. We must actively participate in the building of our godly character within us. We must be obedient to God and His Word. We must show the love and compassion of Jesus Christ to others.
I was reading one of the amazing feature stories in my Tony Evans Study Bible (y’all notice I haven’t said too much about it lately. I didn’t want y’all to be rolling your eyes at me rubbing it up), it said the road to glory is paved with purpose and that purpose lives on on the inside of us. God has planted a seed within every believer. It is a measure of his righteous character, and he desires to see that character flourish within us. But like any seed, it requires nurturing; it’s meant to grow. But it’s not going to grow just because we want or desire for it to. We have to do our part to live a godly life. We are to live as children of God. How are you living?
The Holy Spirit said to me this morning, “Don’t lose what you have learned by not putting it to use daily.”
From my reading for our Scriptural Bible Study in the 12th Chapter of Deuteronomy, I kept seeing the words: BE CAREFUL! This makes me realize that I should really pay close attention to what is said after those two words. I saw these two words at least six times from what I could count! That’s six times in one chapter where we see a warning to BE CAREFUL:
Be careful to follow these statues and ordinances in the land that the Lord, the God of our fathers, has given you to possess all the days you live on earth. (verse 1)
Be careful not to offer your burnt offerings in all the sacred places you see. You must only offer your burnt offerings only in the place the Lord chooses in one of your tribes, and there you must do everything I command you. (verses 13-14)
And be careful not to neglect the Levite, as long as you live in your land. (verse 19). The Levite was within their city gates, but he didn’t have a portion or inheritance there.
Be careful to obey all these things I command you so that you and your children after you may prosper forever, because you will be doing what is good and right in the sight of the Lord your God. (verse 28)
Be careful not to be ensnared by their ways after they have been destroyed before you. Do not inquire about their gods, asking ‘how did these nations worship their gods? I’ll do the same. You must not do the same to the Lord your God, because they practice every detestable act, which the Lord hates, for their gods. They even burn their sons and daughters in the fire to their gods. (verses 30-31)
Be careful to do everything I command you; do not add anything to it or take anything away from it. (verse 32)
What I have learned from studying God’s Word is that we are to heed the warnings. We are to be obedient. And when we do, we and our children after us will prosper forever! Hallelujah! Amen!
SALVATION PRAYER
If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and you’re not a believer, but you have a desire to be, all you have to do is openly confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9). When you pray that prayer, you are saved. Get connected with a good, bible-based church in your community, stay connected to other believers, and start having daily conversations through prayer with God every single day. Welcome to your new life with Jesus Christ!!!
