There is a book I read last year by Kenneth E. Hagin entitled, You Can Have What You Say. You can find this little, power-packed book on Amazon for less than $2 bucks. This morning I was reminded of this book as I was praying. I was thinking about the kind of house I wanted and the kind of house my kids always pick when we go looking at houses either in person or online. They always pick the most expensive houses and I find myself trying to pull them back toward a lower-priced option. Why do I do that? Mindset. Lack of faith. Thinking. Wondering. Figuring. All the things that are NOT of God basically!
This morning I found myself thinking about a beautiful home and then shifting to price and replacing the more expensive home with a less expensive home. And that’s when I heard the Holy Spirit say to me: Why Can’t You Have It? And before I could stumble into an answer, He kept going: You don’t know how, but I do! Everything belongs to Me Fon! The reason you want those things that are considered luxury in your mind is because I want them for you. They are not out of reach for Me. And therefore they are not out of reach for you! You have prayed for your desires to line up with mine and I answered that prayer. Your mind can’t conceive HOW, but I already know HOW. Will you trust Me? Will you depend on Me to do it FOR YOU? Fon, I love when you want and desire things ONLY I CAN DO FOR YOU!
I really could end the blog/podcast right there. But I won’t because I want to ENCOURAGE you this morning. I want to encourage your prayer life because prayer success happens when we put on the whole armor of God. I want you to GET PROPERLY DRESSED FOR PRAYER SUCCESS! And part of your attire is the shield of faith. I must have forgot to put that on this morning because the enemy was throwing darts of doubt, causing me to have little faith about getting the desires of my heart. So before we go in prayer, we need to make sure we are dressed in the complete armor of God for prayer: Belt of Truth around our waist (personal integrity and moral courage); shoes of peace; helmet of salvation; protectively shield of faith, sword of the spirit (which is the Word of God); breastplate of righteousness (an upright heart).
Now that you’re fully dressed for prayer success, I want to share this YouTube video with you that really helped me get UNDERSTANDING about prayer, and I believe this video by the late Dr. Myles Munroe is going to bless you, encourage you, and more importantly teach you about prayer. So be sure to take the time to watch it. Feel free to let me know via email how it transformed your mind around prayer. You may think you know prayer, but this video will help you UNDERSTAND how prayer really works because a lot of us are praying amiss daily and we don’t want to form an improper prayer habit! Now before we go, I hope that you read Acts 14 for today’s Scriptural Bible Study. What I got from today’s lesson is:
Acts 14:5-7 - Knowing what to do requires wisdom. We all should be led by the Holy Spirit in everything we do.
Acts 14:9 - A sinful human heart is fickle when it is not tied to TRUTH. One minute you devoted and the next minute you not. Repent.
Acts 14:20 - They thought they killed Paul by stoning him but he got up and continued his mission in a different place. See when we go back to the beginning of Acts, we remember Paul was persecuting believers and now here he was being persecuted for being a believer. But it wasn’t going to let anything stop him. The Lord had poured mercy on Paul and there was nothing he wouldn’t do or endure for the sake of the gospel.
Acts 14:22 - Not all believers will experience the same kind of persecution or problems but all of us will (according to 2 Timothy 3:12) be persecuted in some form or fashion for living a godly life in Christ. In order to deal with all that comes with it, we need to be planted in a church community so that we can be encouraged, strengthened and sustained. It says as they went about teaching and preaching and making disciples, they were also encouraging them to continue in the faith, no matter what comes their way.
Acts 14:23 - As they planted churches, they also appointed elders in every church; and they would pray and fast over these spiritual leaders, and then commit them to the Lord.
That wraps up another blog and bible study. Remember that you CAN have what you say, in Jesus mighty name, but learn how to pray and ask God for it the right way. If you’re asking and not receiving…make sure you’re dressed for prayer success.
