WHAT DID GOD SAY TO ME THIS MORNING

Oh what a glorious Monday morning! I am so excited to be blogging this morning. I have my coffee and my journal and I am feeling mighty good today! You’re like, why are you feeling so good this particular morning Fon?

Well first of all, I am breathing and that alone is enough to be excited about!! God woke us up this morning (yeah you too because you’re reading this blog) LOL! What I am still celebrating though is the fact that yesterday was an epic day that I will never forget! My son and I both got baptized yesterday!!! He accepted Jesus Christ as his personal Savior, and I publicly confessed that old things are passed away in my life. I buried all my old stuff when I went into the water and came up as a new creature in Jesus Christ! It was EVERYTHING!!! If you follow me on IG, you can see the videos!

Words really can’t describe seeing my 8 year old get baptized because he believes Jesus died for Him!! And while I got baptized as a child, I honestly don’t remember it (of course my prayer is that my son never forgets), but the Holy Spirit laid it upon my heart to REDO my baptism and I obeyed. I feel even more FREE than ever!! So welcome to the new me on this blog!! (all smiles)!

This morning, I want to share with you my conversation with the Lord. One thing that I keep hearing the Holy Spirit remind me of is that I don’t have to figure things out anymore. I am sure I keep getting reminded because it’s an area of my life where it’s taking me a bit longer to just lose control. I know I am progressing, but the Lord is allowing me to be in situations where I must lose control in order to be obedient.

As I read Jeremiah 16-18 this morning, the verse that really stood out to me was Jeremiah 17:9-10. It was really verse 10, but in order to really understand verse 10, you need to read verse 9. We have grown up in a society where people always conveniently use the phrase “God knows my heart.” You probably have used it (just like I have too) at a time where you should have been doing one thing, but you weren’t, so you used the “God knows my heart” phrase to justify your behavior or your lack of obedience.

Here’s what my bible says for Jeremiah 17:9-10:

9 ”The human heart is most deceitful and desperately wicked. Who really knows how bad it is?

10 But I know! I, the Lord, search all hearts and examine secret motives. I give all people their due rewards, according to what their actions deserve.” Jeremiah 17:9-10 NLT

Verse 10 says, “BUT I KNOW!” and it reminded me of how Jeremiah 29:11 starts off, “FOR I KNOW…”

The Lord knows ALL, so let’s connect these two verses in Jeremiah, starting with chapter 17:10 where it says: the Lord knows our hearts and will give us our rewards based on what our actions deserve; and chapter 29:11 says, For I know the plans I have for you, they are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

I believe we focus so much more on THAT Jeremiah 29:11 verse (I know it’s been my focus), because it’s the Lord saying His plans for us are good. But the revelation is, those plans can shift based on our hearts and our actions! So while we talking about Jeremiah 29:11, we don’t need to skip past Jeremiah 17:10. The Lord REALLY DOES know your heart and His rewards are based on what you do.

I love to read other translations of the stand out verse so let’s look at what it says (in part) for Jeremiah 17:10:

  • The New International Reader’s Version says, I bless him based on what he has done.

  • The Easy Translation says, I will give good gifts to him if he does good things. And I will punish him if he does bad things.

  • But the message translation is the one that brings it on home in a mic dropping kinda way! The message translation says, …I treat them as they really are, not as they pretend to be.

The Lord won’t be blessing who you pretend to be.

Bottom line: you can fool me, but you can’t fool God! So when you trying to stand on Jeremiah 29:11, just know that His plans for you are based on your actions. If you keep living the way you want to live and He’s telling you to stop, repent, and turn from that life, them plans He got for you gone hit different! We can’t just use “God Knows My Heart” because He REALLY DOES, and your rewards will be based on what He sees in your heart! YIKES!

And this just fell in my Spirit, if you are saying that phrase to someone, it’s usually because you’re trying to convince them of why you’re not being obedient. You’re trying to make them be okay by saying God knows your heart, but you’re not realizing that God REALLY DOES know your heart. That person you’re telling can’t see your heart or the truth (sometimes they can though), but God SEES it because he has searched your heart and examined your secret motives.

So when you miss church and say, God knows my heart, He really does know that you didn’t do everything you could to get there. When you don’t GIVE and say, well God know my heart, He really does know that you’re not trusting Him even with your last few dollars or your time. Or when you keep sinning and using God knows my heart to justify it, He really does know that you are not turning away from that sin or trusting Him to help you stop sinning.

I started off this blog by sharing about me and my son’s baptism, and about the Holy Spirit saying I don’t have to figure it out. I feel in my spirit that you’re reading this and you’re still trying to figure it all out by yourself. You’re still pretending. Just surrender to God and say…I give up trying to do this on my own. I need you Lord. And guess what? You won’t have to even say, God you know my heart, because your heart will cry out and He will hear it.

I pray that this blog reaches whomever it is that the Holy Spirit has for it to reach because I have literally not shared a single thing from my journal!!!! WOW!! WOW!! WOW!!!

Be encouraged this morning and know that I am praying for you and your heart!

Hugs!
