Resting Is An Assignment Too!
WHAT DID GOD SAY TO ME THIS MORNING
This morning I got up to the sounds of Wake Up by Embassy Worship. If you want a song that will literally get you up and out of the bed, I dare you to set your alarm music to this song!!! There was no way I could lay there listening as the words, up up up, crooned through the speakers. Then the song said, “can’t you hear me calling. Come out of sleeping. There is work for you to do.”
So you know I got right on up at 5 a.m. this morning! There was no delay.
As I went into the prayer closet, I started praying immediately. There is so much going on in this world and our prayers are so necessary! So I prayed until nothing else was coming out.
After my praying stopped and I started listening to the Holy Spirit, I felt this chill. I was cold and I heard the Holy Spirit say, go get your blanket. I got up and retrieved my blanket. The coldness that I was feeling was going to distract me. Let me just pause right now and tell you, the God we serve cares about every detail, even if you’re cold. When I got my blanket, I was no longer distracted by my shivering. I was no longer going back and forth in my mind about getting up or staying put. You see how easy we can get distracted, even while in the prayer closet! The Holy Spirit said, go get your blanket.
This morning as I was wrapped in my purple blanket, pillow on the floor to cushion my knees, and my elbows planted on the ottoman seat, I just relaxed. I felt like I was kneeling at the feet of Jesus. My mind started moving around. Jumping from thought to thought. That’s when I heard the Holy Spirit say, this is going to be a full year, so it’s okay to rest. You don’t always have to be moving to be on assignment. Sometimes the assignment will be to just sit at my feet and rest.
As I heard this, I replied, “Lord I just want to please you.”
He said, “You’re pleasing me when you’re obedient.
So I snuggled in and laid the side of my face on the ottoman. When thoughts tried to come up, I remembered that I was laying at feet of Jesus. There is nothing that I needed to even be thinking about. At first it was a struggle for my thoughts to just simmer down. I heard the Lord say, “It’s coming.” He was letting me know that the thoughts that had just popped up regarding the desires of my heart, were indeed coming. But right now, I didn’t even need to focus on that. I just needed to relax and rest here at his feet.
That’s how I spent this early morning prayer time, snuggled at the feet of Jesus, wrapped in a blanket. He didn’t give me any instructions or any new assignments, other than to simply rest in His presence (Matthew 11:28)
What did God say to you in your conversation with Him this morning?
New Year…New Things! The Scriptural Surprise will now be featured in a graphic! And of course if God gives me something to say on it, I will share that conversation in the blog. The graphic may change sometimes, but I wanted to make sure you knew where the new home for the Scriptural Surprise would be. Check it out below!!
SALVATION PRAYER
If you’re not a believer and have a desire to be, openly confess and declare with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9). When you pray that prayer out loud, you are saved. Get connected with a good, bible-based church in your community and start having a conversation through prayer with God every day. And let me be the first to welcome you to your new life with Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. YAAAAY!!!!! You made the best decision you could ever make! Feel free to email me at info@onassignmentbyGod.com and let me know about your newfound life or if you need prayer for anything.
