Well-Rested for the Test
Were you one of the kids in school who came ready for standardized test day or were you the one who came sleepy, tired, and sluggish?
This morning, the Holy Spirit reminded me of elementary school during our conversation! Let’s jump into it and see what He said to me and what He instructed me to do.
But first, scripture!
Consider it a great joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you experience various trials, because you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance. And let endurance have its full effect, so that you may be mature and complete, lacking nothing. — James 1:2-4 CSB
And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. — 1 Peter 5:10 ESV
For you know that the testing of your faith produces steadfastness. — James 1:3 ESV
This morning I was soo sleepy in the prayer closet. I know I dozed off a few times even as I was praying in the Spirit. I kept going though. I stood. I paced the short space in my closet. I kept going.
I heard the Holy Spirit say: Go to bed early. There are some things that I want to use you for that will require you to be well-rested.
My mind immediately went back to elementary school when we would have standardized test days. You were told numerous times to get adequate rest, eat a good well-balanced breakfast, be on time for school, and have your pencils ✏️ sharpened and READY for the test!
I can remember the kids who would come to school sleepy, tired, and late. It was an unnecessary struggle for them and they had they push harder and work harder. If only they had been prepared for the test, it would have yielded a better performance.
The Holy Spirit wants to do more with us but we need to be well-rested for the assignment. Our performance depends on us being obedient to His instructions. And the results of our test, when prepared, will produce steadfastness (loyal, committed, devoted, solid, constant). The Lord wants to be able to count on you to do His will on the earth. But if you too tired, then He can’t really count on you can He?
My response: I hear you loud and clear Lord! You can count on me!
SALVATION PRAYER
If you don’t know Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior and you’re not a believer, but you have a desire to be, all you have to do is openly confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead (Romans 10:9). When you pray that prayer, you are saved. Get connected with a good, bible-based church in your community, stay connected to other believers, and start having daily conversations through prayer with God every single day. Welcome to your new life with Jesus Christ!!!
